I don't want mine coming out with much life in them. I got over that after I watched the best coon dog I ever owned get old before her time fighting coons night after night all winter long for a few years.
I was a kid back in the hills, and we packed a chopping axe and chopped a lot of coon out alive so we could have a good fight.By the time she was nine years old, she was used up. I am convinced all those fights contributed to it. She was a vicious kill dog, and gritty as they came, and I liked to see her fight a big coon.
Not so exciting now. I enjoy treeing them a lot more.
