Black & Tan, looking for a line

My male out of Sledges Nasty Trip ( ridge runner heritage ) x Bet on Big Time Lady Reno ( Big Albert and Screaming Bo heritage ) died this late summer at the age of 5 1/2 yrs. and with a "family" started I am looking for a male pup to replace him next year some time... need more time to grieve over his loss. I have to say that I do not like pencil legged, small headed, thick between the ear, nor hard to hear Black and Tans. I am looking for my late "Hammer's" equalivant + a better passing gene of ear length ( a pup or two were coming up short x my Nightrider female ) ... or I will not stay with this breed.

My tribute to a friend / a child I have lost -

Hammer ment and means alot to me, my first coonhound and my first Show Champion. He came to me at 10 weeks old. He ment alot to my husband's nephew ( age 10 at that time ) who could handle this 95 lbs of hound in a kids show event.... yeah all ask if "I had a saddle for him" since he was a big fella that pretty much out weighed me. Hammer was my "pull me up the hill hound" if I asked him to help me up and my "thunder foot" going through the woods. He acted a little dense between the ears but wasn't stupid and loved to please me. He could act like a pup though he was middle aged. He wasn't always perfect in the woods but we both were out just to have some fun in the dark anyhow. He was straight on coon with a few tree rat mistakes as a pup. In memory of my bawl driving track mouth and every breath slobbering chopping tree mouth black dog, I bid you fair well.

Nasty Black & Tans

kelkoonr, If your looking for something out of that line I might know of some. Dual Gand You Can Bet on Nasty's Rex (Nasty Tripx Hammers Black Cindy) is our personal hound. He's 8 years old now but seems healthy as a horse. Big Time Lady Reno is still alive and well at my freinds house in S.E.MN. Reno had 2 puppies this spring both females but neither are for sale. I live near Osage IA in the northern part of the state. Rex was bred to 2 females this past year. Both females had seven puppies. I don't know of any that are left but all 14 puppies were nice with really long ears I've bred a couple other females and had some pups with a little shorter ears. I have a couple fellas who are going to breed their females to Rex when they come in. I dont know if we'll get Reno bred one more time or not but would like to try. I can be reached at 641-732-1081 if you have any questions call. Thanks , Doug Michael

KelCooner,

Brigman B&T has a 4 Month old pup left for sale,
Id contact him, The one I got from him started early, has alot of sense, is a Big Strongly Built hound, with a head full of sense, that hates a Coon, and is doing it right. Very Long eared and Houndy.

Make that heap you described look like a Puppy. LOL

Thank You

I am still soul searching, but since I have a female pup out of my late CH 'Pr' Trip To Reno With Sledgehammer and my female is still young enough for a breeding, she is just 5 years... I will desire some of Bill Mack's hounds outcrossed a tad to warrent off any possible faults that may come up in a closer breeding to my younger dog.

Soooo Doug I will keep an eye on Rex's crosses but again will take time for my heart to heal to get back in the breeding program I started. Rex I have seen in magazines and hopefully I and my husband can get to events east of Webster City in 2005 and I can see Rex in action. I will most likely be handling a Bluetick ( my husband's breed of choice ) or my 3 years old B&T female in hunt.

If Rex doesn't have any offspring, I only buy puppies under 10 weeks old, next late spring to early summer... I can try Bill Mack I suppose.... but he normally has them sold before I get to see his ad...lol.

Again thanks to all three of you responding... if anyone else has Mack's Sledgehammer or Mack's Midnight Kate in there hound's pedigree let me know.
