Old guy hunts

I saw this on another thread.

Good one, LOL

Well, I'm not on Medicare but I'm getting older & so are my friends. We all still hunt a lot but none of us go to nite hunts too much. They take up too much time and are just kind of a pain in the neck. I think we'd all like to do hunts if they were more fun and convenient. I wonder how many others like me are out there?

How about it? What do you older guys feel like? Have any of you ever thought about making hunts more fun? Or things that would get us coming back to the clubs? I've always wondered if some one hour hunts with 3 dog casts would be of interest to the old timers.

I'm almost 69 years old,

& me & another guy about my age are two of the main guide's for our Club. I was a guide again for the PKC Walker Days this year, & I would have hunted also, except my dog was in heat. People used to not like to hunt with me because my dog's hunted to wide, & I walked to fast. I've slowed down some but the dog I'm hunting now, is a wide hunter, so I still do alot of hunting by myself.

But to answer your question, YES I WOULD ATTEND MORE HUNTS, IF THERE WAS JUST LESS ARGUING, & some of THE PEOPLE WERE NOT SO **** ARROGANT. During the week, 1 hr. Hunts are fine, but on week ends it wouldn't make me mad to go to a 3 hr. Hunt. It would give a guy or his dog a chance to make it up if they made a mistake early.

OH YA, one of the handlers that I guided on Fri. night at the PKC Walker DAYS, raised such a stink back at the Club House about a question on the Hunt, that they barred him.

Thanks John & Jimmie, I had composed a reply earlier to this arrogance but deleted it. You both said it more tactfully than I could.

Doesn't UKC already offer a "seniors" cast? I thought if there were enough seniors to have a cast, then there could be one at any hunt?

Yeah, I'm not that old though, only 50. I was just thinking some shorter hunts with smaller casts might make it more fun. Easier to hunt and still have time left over to get stuff done. I get tired of coming in at 5 a.m. and 3 dogs usually hunt better together than 4.
I know some get real serious about titles and seeing how tough a dog is. I used to care too. Mostly I just want to have fun anymore.
