first born?

Has any one ever kept the 1st born pup of the litter before. And if so have you noticed any dif between them & the rest of the litter. I know for the first time what pup was born first & was thinking bout keeping it as my pick.

We have one we kept that was the first one born out of our Pine Ridge Tuff x Coon Creek Maggie litter. The dam had a tough time whelping, didn't pay any attention to the first pup until 3-4 pups later she started settling down. She was a little black and white female (what I prefer). I didn't know if she'd make it.
We kept her and named her "Brogan's One Tuff Cookie", get it?

As far as if she's any better or worse than her littermates, I can't tell. I doubt it makes much difference.

Dominance? I have a first born I kept and yes he does show some of that but he is not a fighter or anything like that.

I have noticed that the 1st born pup & one other one are kind of laid back don't much bother them. they act like they don't care what the other pups are doing. now the rest act like they want to be around the rest or they start crying. Think I have almost made up my mind. But then have seen pups do a complete turn around before in just a short while
