I have noticed that alot of people are talking highly about HI Standard Dog Food. I went to there website. Im just wanting to know which one you guys feed and which one is the best. And what are the prices of this food? How do dogs do on it. Is there stools better and coats better. Just trying to get some feedback on this dogfood..Thank you...

Pritchard- I carefully monitored my use of Hi standard purple bag dog food. I like it a lot. See this thread for details.
http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthrea...threadid=318063
Read through to the end, I actually calculate down to the penny my costs to use this feed.

Purple Bag

Is the best and has less fat that's what we use and it's fairly cheap. everyone I know uses that brand.

Purple or the blue bag

Warnning watch for constapation in your dog over along period of time on this food this is one of the things peppole will say they like about the food is less stool but if you have your dog exrayed you will see how much is still left in them it is a good food but this is a problem I run into when on this food too long they get bogged down and effects there hunting abilty. So I guess I would say l like it just know you may have to stop feeding it for a bit then go back.

Can you give any more details than this? Did your dog get down on you? I have never seen or heard of this?

I fed this feed for a long time and I think its a very quality product. Only one thing I didnt like and that is its very high salt content. Look at the ingredients and see how many of those are linked to a salt product, turns out its alot. I was having trouble with hard going dogs heating up on it in the summer. Then in the winter when water dishes would freeze the dogs couldnt get enough to drink. All dogs drank alot more water year round when I was feeding High Standard, I link that to their increased salt intake. Not a scientific analysis at all but I did put alot of time and thought into it before I came to my conclusion. Dave

NOTHING OYHER THEN THE REASON YOU PROBLEY HAVE NOT SEEN THIS IS YOU REALY HAVE TO HAVE AN EXRAY TAKEN OF THERE DIGESTIVE TRACK AND YOU WILL SEE HOE PACKED IT IS. YOU JUST TO HAVE TO KEEP AN EYE ON THEM WHEN THEY START TO STRUGGLE HAVEING A STOOL AND IF YOU SEE SOME BLOOD IN THE STOOL GET THEM OFF AND YES MY DOG WERE GETTING HOT IN THE SUMMER ON THE 26/18 AND ABOUT THE SAME ON THE 24/12 WITCH WAS CAUSING THEM TO SLOW WAY DOWM OTHER THEN THIS I AGREE WITH EVERY THING ELS ITS THE BEST I FEED AS FAR AS ENERGY WISE AND HAVEING THE GO GO! A FRIEND OF MINE HUNTS COYOTE DOGS AND WHEN THEY GET HUNTED HARD THEY QUIT EATING IT ALL TOGETHER MY BELIFE IS THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT YOU SOME TIMES CANT CONFERMIN THIS WITH OUT AN EXRAY HOPE THIS SHEDS SOME LIGHT ON WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY.

been feeding Hi-Standard for 4-5 years now, i have beagles, fox hounds and coondogs. I have never personally had any problems whatsoever. all dogs are slick and healthy, with an abundance of energy and very low stool volume. I have never had any problems of my dogs not "going" to the bathroom", i say if you hunt them hard they will always empty out.

I have been feeding if for about 2 years or more and is the best dog food I ever fed. I use the purple bag during hunting season and winter. I switch to the blue bag in the summer. My vet says that he thinks it is the best dog food on the market. I have never had any problems with stools or going to the bathroom. I get comments all the time on how good my dogs look.

To Mizzou who made a comment on a different post comparing coke and pepsi, and implying I was an idiot,

Gentlemen, please go to hi-standards website, look up the 26-18 , read ingredients, copy them whatever, and then google, Ultra advantage look up their 26-18 not theyre chicken based blend, but theyre regular 26-18 read ingedients, then look up buddy boy feeds made by joy, I could not find a website, but have theyre brochure. ALL THREE FEEDS INGREDIENT LISTS READ THE SAME WORD FOR WORD!!!! Maybe they use different suppliers for theyre ingredients, but possibly the same formula made by pro-pets nutritionalist. Dont doubt the power of marketing.
