Where did the Sackett Name came from?

When i was a kid, I used to read alot of books.I read all of Louise Lamour's books and he had a line of books with The SACKETTS in it and i often wondered if it was from those books or the movies that followed. I always named my dogs from places i got them from or a song or something. Oklahoma Pride (OKIE) was from Oklahoma.KAYCEE was named after i went mule deer hunting in KAYCEE WY.SHINE was named after Matt Stilwells" Shine song." And Banshee was named after a 4 wheeler i had. just wondering if i'm on to something or what....

Considering a dog out of Sackett Jr was named Tell Sackett (on of the main characters in Lamour's Sackett series) doesn't that kind of give it away?

Actually that is what made it click for me. but i was not sure if the original sackett was from the books or they came up with Tell later. I guess maybe it was a silly question.......

Yes they named several after the Louis Lamour line of books. I used to hunt with Franks cousin and he was doing the same.

I always guessed it was after the Sackett Potato Farms in our area. Learn something new everyday!

I named our boxer TYSON after Mike Tyson . Due to when he gets a little upset he can get a little unstable LOL but alot of people think its from TYSON chicken.... Thats why i asked the question ,There is always a story behind a name and just wondered if i was the only one that was thinking from the books and movies,But know you just added a twist.

Sackett

Old Sackett JR. started out as PR Skeans Firecracker when Ernie Skeens owned him. I was on the first night hunt with him at the Clam River Coonhunters Cub many years ago. Ernie raised him, and many other good dogs.
