Best Dog houses

I want to upgrade my houses. Does anyone have a website or suggestions as to where to look. I'm looking for insulated, cleanable, etc. I know I've seen some nice hound houses in a catalog, but for the life of me can't remember which one.

thanks

Rick Stanley

If you got an old refrigerator, lay it on its back and cut a whole in one side big enough for a dog to get into. It is easy to clean and you know it is insulated. Plus won't cost that much... Just a thought. Know a fella that has a couple like this and they work great.

Go to http://www.k-9kondo.com/ and look at the Dog Den 2, I have 3 and think they're the best house you could put a dog in. Easy to clean, require less bedding to stay warm, and during th cold months you dont have to increase your dog's feed..saving money. I figure after 2 years the houses pay for themselves in straw and feed reductions..and the dogs are more comfortable.

I bought some from Regal boxes, they're made out of the same materials as the dog boxes, and have a hinged top to clean the inside out, when i got mine, they were reasonably priced also.

Come on guys... it is not about whether or not if it is redneck, it is about the well being and comfort of the hounds.

find someone who works at a coke or pepsi plant....you can usually get a truck full of damaged plastic 55 gallon drums they ship the drink concentrate in....I work across the street from the coke plant and when I need them I make one call and load the truck up with them for $5-$7 a piece.....cut a hole in the top attach a board so it won't roll and voila a cheap decent looking dog house and the dogs love them.....just don't cut the hole too big or the barrel will cave in with heat and make sure to drill several holes in the bottom to let moisture drain....make sure its not the 30 gallon size though b/c they aren't big enough for a coonhound.

I am still stuck on the insulated dogloo's myself. The one's with the little entry way. My dogs LOVE them and they stay warm.. They come apart, so are easy to clean. I normally take them apart every month or so to clean them all out.. Only thing my dogs don't like about them is the dog house dwellers can't lay on them and sun themselves.. Maybe I will have to try a fridge

Check out the Dog Den 2 from K-9 Kondo. There's no sense in short changing your dogs. They'll stay happy, healthy and warm in the cold. I've had hounds for over 15 years, had every type of doghouse you can think of, these are by far the best. jmo

Give them a choice and they will prefer the 55 gallon barrels 10-1 over just about anything else. I dont know why, but dogs love them.

Mine are bolted to the back of the kennels, on the outside. Kennels are made out of square tubing and angle iron, with "horse" panels for the wire. They are just like a cattle panel, but with 2"x4" holes and 5' tall.

I have tried a bunch of ways, and this is the easiest to clean and the dogs love it. The panel kennels are just about indestructable.

When it gets realy cold out, I have "blankets" for the barrels. I wrap the thin silver insulation you can buy at any lumber yard around the barrels and hold it with duct tape. When it warms up, just take it off and use it agian next year.

One other thing, be sure and cut the hole for the door from the bottem of the barrel. Use the top end with the holes for the back side. This way in the summer it has some ventilation. In the winter, put the plugs back in the holes.

I notice Danny Glista is also an employee of buckeye doghouses. Any pics of your products we can look at? They'd be hard pressed to beat K9-Kondo, and I say that as a very satisfied customer.

Danny I just talked to my wife about trying one of your boxes. Man your along way away too. Whats the shipping? I know it says inc. but what is it? Are they big enough for a 80lb blue dog and be comfortable? I have 3 dogs and my houses are amish made with aluMinum siding. Nice boxes. Just alittle bigger then yours.

I bought 2 dogloo's that were insulated about 2 years ago, which worked well, but I found out about the barrell idea, and for a test run I put the 55 gallon barrel in the kennel with the dogloo, and not even a week went by the dogs had forgotten all about those expensive dogloo houses.

Guess my dogs aren't all that high falootin
