first heat

You are very lucky if she happens to be a once a year female. Personally i'd breed her to something that was throwing pretty balanced pups that are accurate & pretty quick treedogs & they should balance out all right.

For some reason it seems to be common for Clover females to cycle irregularly. My older female once went nearly 2 1/2 years between cycles. She came into heat as soon as my partner picked her up on trial and never came in until 2 1/2 years later when we bred her to his male. She's been more regular since, but not every 6 months. Often 8 months or more. I do think sometimes they have a light cycle that is almost unnoticeable.
I have a 2 year old out of her that has only been in heat once.
If you breed her, her heat cycle may be more regular.
Good luck to whatever male you chose to breed her to. If she is heavy Clover. I'd consider anything out of Travis Brown's breeding which all goes back to Bozo and Flag blood.
Clover blood seems to cross well on everything.

i agree as long as shes a coondog then go for it. i believe that you need to look for a make that compliments her weakness. i personally like medlys homer dog. loaded up with tree dogs and not one of them is sackett jr. fred dogs have always crossed well on clover females.

Absolutely, you should be breeding to that Joe semen you have before the rest of that old blood gets too deluded.

I don't think Travis keeps any males, but his females have produced a fair share nice crosses with quite a few studs.

Wildtime Skipper Style, Harry Bawls, several others, too many to list. Do a search Brown's Lil Peg and I'm sure several will show up.

Everything I feel has Wild Casey in its pedigree, but I was tempted to try anything else it would be from one of Travis' crosses.

Also, very little All Grand stuff interests me at all, but Travis seems to be able to produce All Grand with everything stacked in the right places.

I have no first hand knowledge of Travis's dogs, it's just what I've observed and heard from others.

Depends on what your female offers and what her weaknesses are.

What type of Clover do you prefer? Old Clover or Stylish Clover?

If I was looking for heavy Old Clover blood, I'd go to Lee Logan's Wild Jag. If I was looking for Whitey, I'd go to Joe Newlin's Oak Ridge Cubed. Neither are proven reproducers yet, both have young litters on the ground, but both are from families of reproducers.
