Tree's By Sight

MY YOUNG FIEST GOES THROUGH THE WOODS AND STOPS AND LOOKS THE WOODS OVER AND LISTENS FOR MOVEMENT AND LOOKS UP IN TREES. TREED A SQ. BY SIGHT SATURDAY. MY QUESTION IS, IS THIS TYPICAL OF A FIEST,DO THEY NOT CHECK FOR SENT OR JUST BY SIGHT MOSTLY..

No not typical of good Feist squirrel dogs. Could be that is the way your dog is. Or it could be he is young and hasn't learned to his nose yet.

Treeing by sight is a good start. It will likely learn to use it's nose.

Steve your feist should start using it's nose later on. When I saw your name on here I remembered drawing you in a hunt a long time ago when On Fire was just a young dog. We hunted out of the Corydon club and went to ma meadow's bottoms. On Fire got thru the country and got treed and as usual sounded good on the wood.
