Need opinions on a stud

I'm not breeding her for a while but I'd like to get some opinions on what stud yall think would make a good cross. A few people have suggested some that I like, but the more options the better. The stud MUST be a UKC hunting beagle champion and if not a bench champion, he must have good conformation. Conformation is very important to me. If at all possible I'd like to breed her with a dog that has Arnold blood.

For those that haven't hunted with her: She is a 13 in, she runs a track very fast and gets 1st on lines often. She is very tight mouthed but has gotten A LOT better with time (she just turned 1 old). Because of that I'd like a stud that is more loose mouthed but honest.

Pedigree:

------CH GRHBCH Arnold's Little Chip
---(sire)GRHBCH Wade's High Mountain Hammer
------HBCH CH Arnold's Little KY Mtn Lacy
Sheets She's So California
------FC Chapman's Hunter
---(dam)HBCH Arnold's Supper Runnin Freckles
------GRHBCH Arnold's Supper Runnin Shylo

You have a WR dog that is even slightly loose mouthed??

I have one that is the tightest mouth dog I have ever been in the woods with, and most that I talk to say the same about theirs. If mine opens, safeties "CLICK".

I love it, but I was just wondering if you have something different out of your cross.

GRHBCH Sundown Triple Threat, Don and Dave Mcvay

Reason being he is throwing super nose in is offspring, and all the same quilities in your female. I'm not trying to favor anyones dog just trying to help out there is alot of nice studs out there,I myself have one but he is not what your looking for. GRHBCH Buck Lake Boogen Hotrod is anouther one that has these traits.

I agree with you CSG. I have a 3yr old chip\lacy female that I'm thinking about finding a heavy Northway stud to take her to. But I also think Jake would be a good choice. I have seen some good dogs come out of crossing chip stuff with the white river stuff

stud dog

Hi Country girl,
I would breed her to Bill Stewarts GRHBCH Sling Shot Chester.Chester is a full littermate brother of Bill McFarland's GRHBCH Shenango Star who we all know won the world in 2006. Now Star is out of Chip directly and Bill McFarlands GRHBCH Billy Jacks Boots bitch.I dont do much trialing in the UKC only performance pack occasionally,as I generally run a little more conservative line control type hound and I trial mostly AKC and ARHA.I do however have two good footy bitches one double Ace In The Hole&double New City bred and one double Ace In The Hole & double Turbo bred that I run with friends that have the hunting beagle style hounds.I seen Chester at a trial in Sagertown Pa.,when I judged a winners cast and thought he was a fine hound plenty of foot and good line control, and confirmation out the wazoo Im not sure but he may be a show champ to.I asked Bill McFarland one day while we were running dogs about Chester since I have only seen him twice, about using him for a stud to one of my bitches and Bill said he thought Chester would be just fine.Larry Arnold is a good personal friend of mine, and Owens cousin and I can tell you they started about 25-30 yrs ago breeding with the same hounds.Owen went more agressive and larry went more conservative.Larry and I trial together and I have a lot of his Arnold blood in my hounds.Occasionally we like to throw a little more footy hound into the mix and Chester would fit the bill since half of him goes back to the ancestors in my Arnold hounds.Oh well its just a suggestion. -----------------------Vic

Better yet, I would run with dogs out of the sire's that you're thinking about. Good dogs don't always throw good dogs. Run with dogs out of a few different bitches if you can. That will show what the sire's bringing to the table.

Highly recommend Strongbow Chip Off The Block. Everyone seems to know how the White River lines are, well here's your chance to do the same thing. Fire River Michael x White River Lulu produced some of the best. Lulu was Arnold bred, Chip is a son of Michael. Chip definitely has the conformation and Michael gave him the hunt. Call Donny and Dave McVay.

Donnie and Dave's Chip off the block is a great hound and he can put great conformation in his pups ! he is a great sire .
but Chip is out of Fire River Michael X Strongbow Briarhill Dahli not Whiteriver Lulu

I am very well aware that Chip is NOT out of White River Lulu. Maybe I should have been more specific so as not to confuse.

Chip is Fire River Michael bred.

The Sheet's Shes So California is Arnold bred.

Put the two together and you have Fire River x Arnold.... just like Fire River Michael x White River Lulu.

maybe something off of Anthony Phalegraf's Bandit dog that would add more Chubby and he is the dog that is the link in both the White River breeding and in Owen's breeding and in my mind has been probibly the most influintal stud dog in UKC
