Round here its a $40-$50 entry per cast (some folks buy 1 and some buy 2). Everyone that brings in a coon depending on what club the hunt is at, some assign numbered balls, while others put your name in an empty pill bottle, goes in a can or tumbler and most places let kids draw out if any are present. Deadline for entry in hunt is 5-6pm (not real sure there, we always call in mid day) and deadline to be back is between 11-12. Some clubs have a 100% payback and some 75-80%. If there is ever a big coon contest then it will always be a big coon/little coon for an extra $10 due at entry deadline. That pool is split 50-50 between whoever has the biggest and least coon. This method seems to cut down a lot on the multiple kills for the big ones. I do know around here that if its a certain amount of money guaranteed to be paid out then there is always a better turn out than just the regular weekend meat hunt. In other words just the regular weekend hunt may draw 8-10 casts, mostly us same old people every weekend, where a $500 hunt will get maybe 13-18 casts, a $1000 hunt will bring in 20 or more casts, and twice a year a local feed store has a $5000 hunt that always gets over a 100 casts. Not sure if any of its the right way just seems to be the way they are ran around here.
