This is Ben from The Pro Shop. I am pretty sure there is no update for the Garmin Collar itself. If you are having problems with it you can take the back plate off of the collar and the reviever will come off there is 4 small screws that hold the back of the receiver on. Take them out and easily pull it apart and you will see some wires going to the battery. Unplug them for about 30 seconds and it will reset the collar. If that doesn't fix your problem it will more than likely have to be sent back to Garmin

Hook the garmin up to your computerand on then go to the garmin web site. Go to the down load section and have it check for updates. Once it updates the Astro you can turn on the DC30 and put it on top of the Astro and then check for updates for it also.

It will pretty much walk you through the steps.

I never knew that. I will have to give it a try. We have alot of people that are not real computer savvy so they hear of these updates and bring them into us. Learn something new everyday. Thanks, HOBO

thanks

I found this post very helpful, most garmins are uploaded with the 2.3 version and this updates the garmin to the 3.0 version. very helpful. Thanks again.

all depends how long it may have sat on the shelf before it was shipped to you...

best thing to do is this:

put the CD that came with your unit in your computer.

follow all of the instructions step by step as it downloads GARMIN info to your computer.

once everything has downloaded and you no longer need the CD.

restart your computer.

after you get restarted connect the GARMIN handheld USB connector to both your GARMIN and computer USB port. Turn on your collar and lay it near the handheld.

on your COMPUTER GO TO:
Start-> Programs-> Garmin-> WebUpdater

Follow the steps from there.

I hope this was help.

Joe

When you try to update it with the computer it will tell you what version you have before it updates.

Just because it's new doesn't mean it doesn't need updates.

I just updated both my handheld and collar the other day.

The latest collar update causes the light to signal that you have pushed the on/off switch. That was a helpful update actually.

Even if your unit is new it may have been made last year sometime.

It doesn't hurt to check for updates. Mine has been updated several times and I have never had any trouble with it (knock on wood).

Yes the handheld has to link up with them before they will update.
