Walker x Pointer - Squirrel dog?

Has anyone tried a cross like this? There are a litter of pups just down the road, a wanderin walker got to their pointer female. No idea on sire, the dam is said to be a good bird dog. Anyone with experience on this kind of cross for squirrel dog?

I have heard often that a Half Coonhound, Half Bird Dog, will often make a good Coondog. Never heard of them being used on Squirrel though.

I have seen some excellent half bird dog squirrel dogs. But, they were half Cur. The hound would not hurt a thing, it should put a little louder mouth on them. They will likely be silent and fairly hot nosed.

I think the hound-bird dog cross has been used by some, it is just some folks may have put a set of hound papers on them and called it good. That is just my opinion.

Try one of the pups. You would have a good chance of getting a squirrel dog.

Do you think a hound has more nose than a bird dog?

I was under the impression that a hound had a colder nose than a bird dog...I had heard about hound x bird dog crosses in the past, and was told they are a hotter nosed dog...

HAVE TO GO WITH JCHAD ON THIS ONE

I SAW SOME STUDIES ON THE DIFFERENT NOSES ON DOGS MEASURED IN PARTS PER THOUSANDS IF I REMEMBER RIGHT.
BIRD DOGS AND SHEPERDS ARE ABOVE THE HOUNDS. <v>

I was alwayse under the impression that a bird dog, has a very cold nose, because he sniffs out birds and points, and birds dont leave much scent.
