The proposed changes to the Fishing and hunting regulations are now in print and meetings have been set for public comment.

I noticed no impact to raccoon hunting. There is a proposal to extend Squirrel season til the end of feb to make it consistent with other small game. There are proposals to no longer allow running deer with dogs on 3 game lands areas; one is at the request of the landowner (remember most gamelands in the eastern and central portion of the State are not owned by the State but are put into the program by companies or individuals seeking the tax breaks) the other two are proposed due to land size, complaints from adjacent landowners, and trespassing charges. There is a proposal extending Bear Season in Hertford County from 2 days to 3 weeks coinciding with the seasons in the joining counties of Bertis and Gates county.

Public comment will be used as each proposal is evaluated on and voted upon, any proposal voted in will be effective in the 2010/2011 Hunting and Fishing Digest.

Thanks for the information. I havent lived in North Carolina since 2000 but am moving back to the Camp Lejeune area near the end of febuary.
