Clifford Benge - Obituary
Clifford Benge, 77, of Greensburg died at 2 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born in Manchester, Ky., June 4, 1932, Mr. Benge was the son of Joe and Nancy Howard Benge. He married Pat Black Jan. 11, 1958, at Westport Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nancy (Neal) Purvis of Greenville; sons, Dennis O. Benge of Indianapolis and Troy A. (Theresa) Benge of Greensburg; a sister, Wanda Thacker of Berea, Ky.; a brother, John (Anne) Benge of Medora; and grandsons, Jared Benge, Nathan Benge, Nick Benge and Brandon Benge, all of Greensburg, and Ben Purvis of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Clara Franklin and Dorothy Bowling; and brothers, Jim, Harry, Alfred and Homer Benge.
A resident of Indiana since 1940, Mr. Benge was a 1953 graduate of Vallonia High School and played on the winning sectional team in 1950. A semi-retired farmer, he retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1972 and purchased his farm south of Greensburg. He loved the land.
He attended Westport Baptist Church and was a member of Clifty Creek Coon Hunters Club, Hoosier Tree Dog Alliance and Indiana Coon Hunters Association. His greatest joys were his farm, grandsons and his Treeing Walker Coonhounds.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Monday at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home at Westport with the Rev. David A. Scaggs officiating. Calling will be from 2 p.m. until service time Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Westport Baptist Church Building Fund.

Many of you will remember Cliff as a member of the Clifty Creek CHA, Dupont Indiana at the AKC National Championships and the PKC Labor Day Classics .Cliff was a great guy. We are sure gonna miss ya Buddy!
