I been thinking about buying one. Not sure about a backtracker or a handheld gps. Any opinions??

depends on your need. if you want a tool to mark waypoints to fish/ hunt at...GPS. If all you need is to find your way back to a truck...the back track is cheaper, but no better

They work good. Just stand still when you turn it on, and turn it on and off as you need it.

Just got one today for my Bday and played with it set it in the yard as home and walked off into the woods and it pointed me back to the house when i turned it back on 362 yds from the house. So far I like it simple to use.

i got a back track i like it ok i would get the gps over it tho.. it wont work that good when the leaves are on and its not to good in the mountains but flat land its ok..

I had no trouble with leaves on. My BackTrack finds satelites in half the time that most handhelds do. Just don't drop it around your neck with the back position locked on.

I would say the handheld gps. The Backtrack finds satelites alot faster but the gps has more features. The Backtrack needs "locked on" every time you get out of the truck. My gps has all my favorite spots loaded in as waypoints. I dont even need to turn it on unless I am having trouble getting out of the woods. Probably only turn it on once a month. I have the yellow Etrex.

I have a hand held gps. Its pretty good. But I've got a question. I can turn it on and look up a way point and it will tell me how far I am away from the point but the compass is not right. Now the question is is it broke are can I do something to fix it? Thanks

I clicked the gps at my deer stand and started walking away from it. I was looking at the yards as I was getting forther away and noticed the compass was pointing west. I was walking north and south. It would float around a little thin point back at the stand and thin back west. After that I have played with it a lot and I know its off. I dont trust it any more. I just watch the yards.

It was in there in sales ad that was delivered in the Sunday paper that ends tonight.

It's also on page 16 of there weekly sales ad that can be viewed online (top of BB homepage click on Weekly Ad).

My wife ordered one online Mon or Tues this week with free shipping.............Someone had called me and said they were no longer available online.
