If you can't shoot around your house what i do is just pet them up and use shorts or CB's till they get used to it. My young pup was scared to death the first time she heard a long go off so we backed it down a little I went over and petted her while my buddy shot some shorts ...By the time we knocked 3 or 4 coons down she was waiting to hear the thud of the coon. The other thing you can do is clap your hands (LOUD) or clang your feed bowls together at feed time.Do it when you come out of the house towards the pup, not right over top of them till they get used to it.

Gun shy

Just like Velocity said.If I have one thats gun shy,I'll just shoot a couple of rounds off right next to the kennel just before feedin' time. It's always worked well for me.
