Steve, you are forgetting one thing about UKC, if the judge thought his dog was on the beaver dam there is no requirement to even tree the dog or apply the stationary, you can just walk over and see. In that situation if he is on the beaver dam it can be scored accordingly, plus,minus, or circle.
I do think he should have done one or the other though, but really if he knows the land and knows the dog is in the beaver dam it is better for you if he DOESN'T go in there cause the circle from scoring the beaver dam could beat you. I personally would have went and scored my dog in the beaver dam if it was mine hoping I could see the coon in the beaver dam and I would have just went over there and scored it too, no treeing the dog and no stationary rule just scoring the place of refuge.
