I used to feed Black Gold , both the black bag 26/18 and the orange red bag 30/20 . I switched awhile back to Diamond Naturals Extreme Athlete 32/25 . B.G. was a pretty good feed for the money .With D.N. there is less cleanup and it seems like the dogs have an extra gear . Completely satisfied so far !

look at Native level 4 performance athlete. good stuff started using it about 2 months ago. really like it hound looks and performs great. very lean and muscled. with lots of energy and stamina. it is not cheap but you have to feed less so it is really not that much more. just google Native dog food and check it out.

I am really liking Taste of the Wild. I only feed one hound, so the price $42.99 for a 30 pound bag isn't too bad. I feed 2 cups a day. I haven't ever fed anything better. I feed the yellow bag with the Bison and Venison. It contains (0) grains.

Oh and you can buy it at Tractor Supply Store TSC

I mix a little Taste of the Wild in with my Diamond .. it sure makes their stool dark and small .

You can smell the difference and if you eat a chunk , it doesn't have that dirt and grit in it like cheap dog foods.

Pro Plan Performance, it's not cheap but it is the best out there. You cannot hunt a dog down on it.

No but, I sure do like this little dog. I have been feeding the recommended portion for my dog for nearly two weeks, the bag is only 1/4 down. If $40 worth of feed last me 6 weeks to 2 months, I cannot complain. He sure does seem to enjoy the feed. He looks good, acts good, and he hunts his heart out for me. It is the least I can do for him.

Oh and it is $43.00 so you can still afford your dollar menu burger and fries...

Here is the problem as I see it. People complain about the price of dog food, and usually it is someone who has more dogs chained up than he can hunt.

Personally, I went that route, good way to go broke fast. I decided I was gonna do the best I could for what I had. I pared down the amount of hounds, to one single hound, and I can afford that $40 bag of feed every 4-5 weeks. It's cheaper than trying to feed 4 or 5 hounds on 3-4 $25 bags of feed in a month.

already have, it's called Innova Evo

Seriously though, I don't mind spending the extra money - as the other guy said, my hounds do fine on 2c a day (sometimes less) of TotW, or Evo, or something else similar. These foods are grain-free, ergo much higher protein and just generally better quality nutritionally - they pack enough calories into less food, so the bag lasts as long or longer. We feed raw for the most part, but if I get super lazy or am traveling with the dogs, we break out the grain-free kibble...

Moderate protien and Higher fat content. Iknow that protien is esscential, but the vet tells me that to much protien is hard on the dogs kidneys. I would like to find something with less pro and alittle more fat.
