I've seen them all treed.

The Rat was treed on a Comp. Hunt in a about an 8-10 ft. bush, whether that is what they actually treed, I don't know????? They just opened a couple of times on track then treed, but my dog was not one of them. (thank goodness) Had an 8-9 month old dog that treed one night, & all we could find in the tree was a young Turkey. (I still hear about this one, & that was in the late 70's)

Had two pups catch & kill a 40-50 lb. Beaver on a sand bar in the Cimarron River one night.

To answer your question, I think a Rat would be the worst one of the four to tree. You better be ready for a kidding if your dog tree's any of them. But you know I would never say a word about it. HEE HEE, Did you hear what that SUCKERS DOG TREED?????

I voted Turkey,

If it has hair and Climbs a tree, my hound is doing what comes natural, if he trees a Turkey, I suspect he may have some bird dog mixed in, that I dont know about. LOL

I voted turkey cause i agree with Richard, sounds like some birddog in there to me. But hey ......... AT LEAST YOU DIDNT PAY $400 FOR A ENGLISH PUPPY WITH NEARLY AN ALL GRAND PEDIGREE AND WATCH IT RUN AROUN IN A FEILD AND GO ON POINT ALL NIGHT INSTEAD OF GETTING WITH THE OTHER DOGS AND GETTING TREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was a sad sight

I think it is VERY wrong for turkey to not be considered OFF GAME.
It is NOT a coon, it dont walk like one, talk like one and probably dont smell like coon - it is OFF GAME......!!!!!!!!

I voted turkey cause that would mean he didnt use his nose to check the tree, since turkeys cant climb and leave a scent for them to tree!

HOW DARE YOU CALL A TURKEY A VARMINT!

No I do not want my dog treeing a turkey. But I am highly offended that you would call the most noble of game birds a varmint. I have spent the better part of my life pursuing this magnificent bird and have nothing but the utmost respect for this noble bird. The american wild turkey hunted fairly in the proper manner is the most thrilling and challenging outdoor pursuit one could ever aspire to. Notice I said fair and proper. I follow the rules laid down by the old timers that sought to preserve the king of birds when there were no rules to protect him. These rules are as follows. Number one; If you haven't called him you haven't earned him. Two; Hens are sacred, do not touch. Three; His feet must be on the ground your butt must be too. Four; Bellycrawling is beneath the dignity of a turkey hunter. Five; Rifles are taboo. Six; All this must occur in the woods, food sources must not be used. Seven; No blinds. Eight; No decoys. Nine; No scopes. Ten; Bushwhacking is immoral. You want to talk varmints, the number one varmint in my book is the racoon, he eats more turkey eggs than any other making him the primary predator of turkeys. That said I enjoy coon hunting and do not kill every coon the dog trees. I apply the rifle according to the property I am hunting. If it is a place I am actively managing for turkey then I kill every coon, opossum, bobcat, coyote, etc. found. If not then I kill only when the dog needs it.

Warrior,

Anything your hound runs or trees, thats not your intended game is trash,
For Example, if your hound is running a Trophy Buck, its running trash.
I Turkey Hunt too , but Not with Hounds. LOL

SHEEPSTER, I couldn't resist this one.

A COWCUMBER, is one of those things you been sucking the HIND TIT on, because you don't hunt a Walker. You've got to get you one of these BURNED OUT FOX HOUNDS. Boy can you make those other guy's whine, sort of sounds like the sounds you heard in that movie DELIVERANCE. LOL

Don't get tooooo upset now, you know I'm just kidding. NOT

A turkey is a varmit to me, I quail hunt, and I gut shoot every turkey that I come in contact with, bird shot will make the feathers
fly, and those old turkeys can really do some dancing and sqawking until they run flapping thier wings trying to fly with broken wings.

SHEEPSTER, come on up around Nov. 10th,

& I'll try to UN-CONFUSE you. Ole SQUEAKY & I will take you out hunting around these CORN FIELD'S, & BUCKET FEEDERS, & you'll say, BOY, those BURNED OUT FOX HOUND'S are not to bad, & those WALKER GUY'S are some of the best people I've ever been around. I might even get Ole James Merchant, & Gary Hern to go along, they both live fairly close, & both have had WORLD CHAMPION'S. That way you can see how the BIG DOG'S get it done, & you can go back & practice up for next years WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. OH YA, that's practice up with your NEW WALKER DOG. LOL
