I put cedar shavings in my dogs boxes, and it seems to help with ticks and fleas in the summer. You could always call you vet for info.

Dawn Dish soap will only get the fleas off the dogs it will not prevent them for gettin more on them so if you dont get them out of the dog box and off the female it wont help much.

First thoroughly clean the pups and their bedding area. Get rid of all the old bedding. We use shredded newsprint for bedding. After that is complete go to your local feed mill and purchase "food grade" Diatomaceous Earth. It runs about $20-$25 for a 50 lb. bag. Sprinking it thoroughly in your whelping area, dust the pups and the momma. You can use this stuff in your kennel, as well as your yard, pen, etc. Diatomaceous Earth will break down the exoskeloten of the flea and they will die. No harmful chemicals for the little ones.
