heaviest coon's

I was wondering what the heaviest coon anyone has ever seen or heard of being shot out there!! I heard of a coon that was shot last night that weighed 52 pounds in southern Maine. I don't know how true that is, because I haven't seen the proof yet. So lets hear the stories , or some pics will do! Thanks Tim

two winters ago my dog just fell treed deep in the country, went in there and gave him that coon. That coon weighed 31lbs, that is a HUGE coon for oklahoma, probably 10lbs heavier than any coon my dogs had put up.

I've tried to look up the heaviest coon ever taken in Maine to find out if they actually get that big but don't know what web site to go to and search I've checked Maine state record for coon and find nothing the same guy said he shot one 15 years ago that weighed 65 lbs and the biologist took measurements/weight

this is by far the bigest coon i had ever seen fall out of a tree.
chuck coats is around 5'8 or so and this coon is almost as tall as him. i wish we had packed him out but it was just way to far back to the truck to weigh him. it was as big as the hounds we were hunting.im just glad we got a head shot on him..

my biggest coon can't compare to any 40 or 50 pounders but my male dog i had last year caught a 26 pounder on the ground last year and we heard the fight break out about 250 yards away. it's the biggest i've trapped or hunted

I think it was "second nature" who posted 2 different coons on here about a year or so ago and had the coons next to items people recognize and know how big they are for comparison.

He asked people to guess the size of the coons............if memory serves me correctly, majority of the guess were highballing the weight.

He posted them to show that what looks and appear to be big coons is not always the case when weighed out.

Northern Wisconsin

Growing up in northern Wisconsin we killed them over 50 lbs every week , but we hunted wilderness areas and around lakes and cottages. My biggest was over 60 lbs and we weighed it on a grocery scale at over 63 lbs. They actually hibernate for part of the winter up there , so they must put on weight. I used to take people from around the country up there just to get them a 50 lber.

big northern coon.

Back in 02' my Bluetick treed a 28 Ib Bobtailed coon in central mass.lost the pic sorry.four years ago in upstate New york we were coonhunting an hour south of my friends camp,my friend charlie payne and i shot a coon out of a apple tree to our three hounds...and let me tell you he beat the hell out of all three hounds.they would'nt back off,as good of gritty dogs they were, and would'nt back down from him,but i had to finish him.he refused to be chewed on.we never weighed him.but he was easily over 30 Ibs. maybe 40.
