This collar you take the magnet out to turn it on and put the magnet in to shut it off. I use a piece of an old bicycle inner tube to help hold the magnets in place and to protect the antenna. I know it sounds a little redneck but that was the way it was when I bought it twelve or thirteen years ago, used, off of a friend. I like the way it works but wish I could afford one of the new garmins. Could there be a short in it somewhere causing the battery to run down or something draining the magnet causing it to turn on and run down the battery?
that's what I'm saying, try it with the magnet in, that will tell you if it's staying on all the time, sometimes it will still transmit a weak signal, enough to run the battery dead.
