What kinda snake is it?

Estill County KY while bow hunting came up on this little critter and had my prosecuting attorney (Bond Arms 410/45LC Snake Slayer Derringer) take him to trial. thought it was poisonous but I aint found any info or photos that match it, so it probaly aint. It was skinny and about 14-18 inches .

Looks like a wild corn snake, essentially, a rat snake.

Looks poisonous. If that's a pygmy rattlesnake that's a big one.

Is that a round pupil or slitted?

Corn snake. A dead one. A dead corn snake. Looks to have been shot with a shotgun...... Did I mention that it's a dead 'Corn Snake'?

All corn snakes' patterns and colors are a little different. You can get about three different colored ones at the pet store but the wild ones are a little more bland like the one in your picture.

Corn snake. People should learn more about snakes before just killing them, if you look at the head shape you can easily tell it's a non-venomous corn snake. They do a ton of good when alive, but obviously none when they're dead.

That thing wouldn't survive in south Ga. Resembles a rattlesnake at first glace and in the heat of the moment would be killed just for looking like a rattler. I do believe that some snakes are good snakes but they all scare me to death and when you are scared its hard to be rational. Around here we kill everything but King snakes and Indigo's.

Very True, but a fobia is a fobia. Some people are just terrified of themand kill them instantly. I'm like that with spiderseven though I know they eat bugs.

Indigo's ??is that the political correct name for Black snakes??

around here if its not black or a striped garter snake its history..

the one in the picture looks so like a rattler it wouldn't have been given a few seconds before wasted around here,,was said game dept. stocked rattlers to slow the turkey population ,,dud ,,dont think it worked,,now we got 2 problems instead of 1,,

No..Indigo is a species that roams only in the southeast, mostly Georgia and Florida. They are on the protected list, so you best not brag about killing one. You may have a knock on the door by someone you would not want to visit.
