Likem,

smart for sure, able to figure out the track.More track than tree, enough to get there and check with out me knowing and come treed to stay.Seem to be more accurate this way.DONT HAVE TO CHOP THE TREE DOWN FOR ME BUT CONSTANT AND GOOD VOLUME.Desire comes in wanting to go and hunt for it and then when struck, to try and finish it.Not so tree minded that it becomes a problem,or slick minded. The way we hunt, and places we hunt, endurance is a must.WE do like them independent, but not so much not to check a hound,if they dont have somthing going them selfs, but when they do it needs to be right!

Man!Gona get me one like that someday.

DRIVE and the singleminded desire to chase and catch. Seems to be the one main thing that you cant help them with. Doesnt matter how much bred in talent they have, without desire they wont make it.

Brain power is the overall necessity
as well as Desire

I would disagree. Drive and the instinct to follow a track is the main thing to get a dog to track. It doesn't take a real smart dog to work a track. It just take instinct to give them the want to and the drive (high energy) to do it. Brains is a big + though but with out the rest the brains don't even come into play.
