i have a 11 month old pup that i'm trainin and whenever he gets on trail he is hot on it but whenever he is on tree with other dogs he sometimes leaves tree and wonders off and gets on tree somewhere else. would it be because he is an independent hunter ???????

If it were me, I'd prolly keep him tied at the tree.... JMO

Tie him to tree, hunt em by himself. Also stay tight to him so you can be right there when he tree's.
