Made two drops. First tree was a decent tree that he worked and worked on the track before he treed but no eyes seen looking back...

Second track he struck what seemed to be a good track but it blew up on him and when he treed he was up a small tree slick.

We decided we had done enough walking for the night and came home.

Made three drops tonight. Treed a coon on the first after a 30min track, had a runaway on the second drop, treed a pretty quick one on the third.
I'm trying a new color of dog and all the trailing is gonna take some getting used to, but I sure like the end result!

Monday night: three drops with one dog. Made four trees and saw coons in three. The last drop he got deep in some swamp county and it took about 1.5 hours to get to him and walk back out while it rained the whole time. Lots of beavers in that country and it seems all you do is crawl across down tree after down tree to get there. It's either that or take on the hazel brush. Home by 3 AM.

Tuesday: first drop with two dogs. They blasted in real deep and treed. I walked 1/2 mile back to the Jeep and then a 4 mile drive around to the other side to get within a little over a mile's walk to the tree. That walk tired me out. I dropped one more time with one dog and his track blew up and he ended up treed on a deadfall. Home by 1 AM.

Tonight: I love working my dogs and have my fingers crossed for a good night. Temp should fall to 30 or less.

Coons in the morning.

I have been doing pretty good doing a couple of drops every night right at dark. But I have been seeing alot of coons on my way to work between 5:00am and 7:00am. and they all seem to be big ones walking across the road.

Anyone else been seeing more coons running around in the mornings?

Eric

Same boat Dave, was able to hunt last night, but since there were ppl at my house I figured I oughta stay... Once the 4th qtr came around i left for the woods, glad I did cuz I can't go out tonight!!! Work the next two, and off for the weekend. Don't know if I'll feel confident entering a hunt or not. Oh well, gotta pay the bills somehow.

went last night and my female got treed in the worst cutover I have been in the last three years or as far back as I can remember, sure I been in worse just still poed about last night to remember. To make matters worse when I got in there she wasn’t even on a tree, she was in a brush pile!
Took my night champion male tonight and another female and the night went much better here are some pics only made one drop though because I’m going to VA to hunt tomorrow night my buddy says the coons have been thin up there this year, but not so much here in Carolina, I don’t have alot of places to hunt nor do I kill many coons but have seen multiple coons up the same tree a few times since July and I’m pretty short on dog power alot of nights as My Nite Champion male is getting older.

Went out last night, took Dawn and Mister. Cut loose at 8:45, it was really windy and raining...They went up over the hill and struck, was treed within 10 minutes. Headed in and they were down in the next valley treed on a big tall tree covered and tangled in grape vines...Squalled some and looked some but couldnt find it.....

Next dump, cut on the edge of a pasture, they got way deep and treed within 15 minutes. I said man, let's drive! Went to the next road over and they weren't but 15 yards from the hard top. Parked the truck, shined the tree and seen a big old fat coon near the top of the tree. Called it a night by 10 .....

Both the boys went out last night and took Raze and Candy. All of the lands that we ususally hunt is under water from all of the rains we have been having lately. They said you could shine the light in the trees and it looked like Christmas with all the eyes shinning. Guess the high waters have em all hemmed up in the tree tops. They went in as far as they could and turned em loose. They had three treed in just a matter of minutes. Then the dogs started acting like they were gonna go for the water and they both figured they were not into to going swimming. So after three coon they loaded up and came home happy boys !

Easy night, treed some coon, no drama, and momma got to go to bed at a decent time !! LOL

I took our "project dog" Flat Rock Rufus out about 10:30 after the wanna be coonhunters all decided not go for some DUMB reason... he has broke out of his kennel so many times in the middle of the night to go hunt by himself he is now on a chain and barkin at 10 every night to go.....
He just turned 2, and came from a very bad start(no names) I'll say in fact I've been researchin on here through the " search " feature how to fix a gun shy dog...so noone would know how crappy I did on my last tradin'....he also was coon squaller shy......

He made 4 trees in 2 1/2 hours and back home(walkin/drivin time included).

2 coons and 1 possum which I knocked out of the tree and let him taste it and gave him a good scoldin.... than 1 more turn loose 100yards along the corn field and on the river bottom to tree his 3rd and last one...wanted to end on agood nite.

4 trees, that is the fastest dog and the loudest dog I've ever owned. I actually for the first time in a long time I told my wife I think I might just have to go back to one of the clubs around here and join one and put up with the swearin and knuckled headed garbage and put some wins on Rufus. Of course once the boys realize I aint gonna put up with lyin and I flip out a few times things should be fine.

wish us luck. oh he is out of comas stylish legend on the top side and skuna river fred on the bottom side.

Lets see it rained here in old Michigan and lots of wind, so we stayed in. But the night before Monday night hunting by 8:30 pm and we made six trees and home by 11:00 pm. not all bad, I believe we seen 5 out of the six coon. Oh the best part we have a couple young pups and one of them is Dolly and she started opening on a track by herself with out the older dogs. Ran it about 200 yards. We were pretty happy. She's 7 months on the 15th of October.
