I have heard the best thing to give is ivamec. There is paste and liquid which is best? What are the pros and cons to both?

True or False?
Ivamec is hard on a dogs liver?
I was also told that it messes up their mouth and makes them sqeaky?

If someone knows some answers I would appreciate. If you don't know don't act like you do. I want facts.

I use the swine/ cattle injectible 1% sterile liquid.
1/4 cc on a piece of bread each month per dog. Have had no side effects in 15 years or heart worms. Sometimes I give 1/2 cc in the middle of summer if fleas are active, I don't know if it really helps with fleas or not.
1 bottle costs 45.00 dollars and lasts 4 years with 3-4 dogs, bottle expires before it's all gone. I keep the bottle in the basement, out of sunlight and it keeps the temperature constant.
Used the Horse paste 18 years ago and 1 dog was always getting sick, going off his feed, also some nights he would run off and act lost and stupid. An experianced dog jockey that said he was " almost " a vet told me the horse paste was too strong and to switch to the hog/cattle type, no more problems after I switched.
No facts, just works for me.

Ivermec is extremely safe and very effective for heart worm prevention. It is recomended to have the dog checked for heart worms before giving them ivermec. Given at PREVENTION rate it will not kill worms but will kill the mivrofillia that is the inmature heart worm. Using a 1% solution you need only 0.1 cc for a 76 lb dog. You would use a higher rate if you are also after killing other worms. It is very effective against all worms EXCEPT three of the five types of tape worms. I use 0.3 cc once a month and the only worns I have in my dogs are occasional tapes. I put the ivermec on a dog biscuit and the dogs love them. You can also inject it under the skin or just squirt it in their mouth or on their food. Most dogs do not object to the taste but some people mix it in sugar water.

The collie and cocker spanial breeds are very sensitive as a breed to ivermec and can only have it safely at prevention rates. You will sometimes find other dogs who will be sensitive to it.

i have used the horse paste for over 20 years and have not had any problems what so ever.
one click on the tube will treat 770 lbs of dog. so it does not take much.
at the recomed rate it has not had any effect on fleas and ticks.
still have to use somethings else for other worms, fleas and ticks.
i have been told that ivomic will hurt the kidneys at to high a rate.

no not because of ivomic.
had it happen when i got a new dog and they barked to much.
steriods clears it up if given when you first notice it. if you wait to long you can not reverse the problem.

The main thing with ivormec is dont ever, ever overdose. It is not one to the "if a little is good, a lot is better" drugs. I can and will damage kidneys in high doses. Been there done that. I use it on all my dogs because heart worms are so bad here in Florida.
