Garmin DC30 collar ID numbers

Is there any truth to the lower ID numbers holding a better signal / tracking farther?

If so are there any bad effects to changing the ID on your collar or does it not matter? You just change it like you would change the name of your collar right?

I've changed my numbers to the low ID and it didn't seem to change anything. I think that is just a rumor somebody started on here.
