Hey Skinner

Here is some more info on red mange.I tried to e-mail this, but the computer said I had an error. Let me know if you did receive any. The sucessof the treatment seems to be related to the the dogs immune system. My current dog has to be dipped every three weeks, and given ivermec weekly in his food. this keeps the rash at bay, but if you hunt him hard, his feet will swell and rash between the toes. He has it as bad as any dog I have seen . Some just need to be dipped every 6 mo. and some yearly,to keep it at bay,so I feel you should at least expect some follow up treatments as in dipping, and your dogs immune system will dictate how often. Some vets has tried High daily and twice daily doses of a durivative of ivermec, and once again the immune system seems to control the sucess of treatment. You said that your vet told you to isolate your dog from others.I think he is wrong and hopefully longears or another vet will comment on this because this cannot be spred by contact between animals, but is heriditary, and the weakened immune systemcan be passed by breeding. I have a lot more boring info available with a Vet college near by, and student studies at hand. Dont hesitate to ask for more info and good luck. Old Joe
