Kelly Mc Combs won his cast with Drifter with i think 200+ congrats Kelly!
I heard high score was like 950+ and i also heard a guy from Minnesota doesn't know when he can blow a sqauler and when he can't.

I didn't take the other dog out. Rules did. Just like rules took me out.

A short while after the judge said 6 and a half minutes are gone, I thought I heard him say "Seven minutes. That is right for squalling right?" Unfortunately what he claims to have said was "Seven minutes, that is right for squalling right?". When I heard him say seven minutes, considering that he had already said that 6 and a half were gone and some time had elapsed after that I assumed he meant the seven was up and I could squall. When I squalled, I was informed that I was scratched because only 6 minutes 50 seconds had gone by. Everyone agreed it was a simple misunderstanding but that I was scratched. I questioned the call, as I felt that I had been given permission to squall. Due to question on a scratchable offense we had to call time out to gather dogs and go back to clubhouse. Judge got houred trying to catch his dog.

So we both got nabbed on a technicality/rule.

Wow! 10 seconds and your gone.......oh well.

I have always wondered if it was required to call time right now because of a scratch question which requires going back. I don't know if that judges dog was struck in or not but if my dog is struck in, there is no way I'm ever voting to call timeout with my dog struck. And I know this was a hunting judge which means they cannot, under any circumstance, call time without a majority voting to call time.

Jim, I did not realize that questioning a scratchable offense meant automatic timeout. This was the consensus of the cast, which I actually did not weigh in on. When time was called the cast scattered in all directions to gather dogs, without determining a meeting point either. Obviously communication was not our strong suit last night!

To my knowlege, there is no such thing as an automatic timeout. Hindsite is always easier but sounds like this one got way from you guys.

what i don't understand Truly is why when you know sqauling before the 7 minutes is up is a scratchable offence why would you ? it when you knew a master of hounds would ask if you sqauled before the 7 was up and when you say yes he says scratched. so to me why would you question that and mess with the rest of the cast? seems to me that the judge got it on a technicality cause he couldn't get his dog caught and back in the hour because you ? something that should not have been ? and you got it because you broke a rule.

Gary, I guess I questioned it for the same reason that the judge questioned whether he should be scratched for the hour when he had taken over an hour and a half to catch his dog. When you drive a fair distance and have done your work to get into this hunt you don't just walk away at the first sign of adversity. If you remember several years ago [almost 15?] there was a deal where in the final four of the world hunt , a field rep told a cast member that he could beat on a tree to get the coon to look. When he did the other 2 judges [also UKC field reps] came in and said he was scratched. This actually turned into a major lawsuit and there have been changes made in how the world is run because of it. I guess I felt the same way as that guy. If a judge tells me I can shine, then I can shine. If a judge tells me that I can squall then I will squall. If I was smart enough to know that I had to wait for 7 minutes to squall, don't you think that I thought that it was conveyed to me that it was a proper time to squall?

To be fair, there wasn't much crying. We all understood rules are rules. He as a judge could scratch me, and I as a cast member could question it.

Sounds like the guy should'nt have been judging if he had to ask if you could squall after 7 minutes should have known the rules????

And none of this had anything to do with a dogs ability to run and tree a coon.
