Got a good question for comp. hunters

Okay 4 dog registered cast. First cut dogs a and b are struck in the woods and they tree together a first then b. The cast walks upon dogs c and d and they are chewing on a opossume (keep in mind these dogs are not struck)

What do you do?

How bout it JiM or RIP?

You keep walking and do nothing. After the tree is scored, you could call time if no dogs are struck in and go get the two possum eaters.

In a NITECH or GRNITE cast they would still get a scratch for molesting off game....even if they aren't struck in....Rule 6(k)... "During the Authority of the Judge"

Open Cast Nothing

Nite Ch Cast Scratch

I questioned a Nite Ch cast one time where a dog was Struck in and Three dogs treed a possum, the dog in question was under teh tree, but not barking treed and the Master of Hounds let her go back out and hunt the rest of the hunt. It only took 8 minutes for us to tree the Possum. I voted scratch.

They don't have any strike points to Plus in the first place because they were not struck in....

I knew the rule before i asked but it just doesn't seem right to me that a registered cast nothing could be done but a Nite CH or Grand Nite Ch cast the dog would be scratched.

Nt Ch's and Gr Nt's are 'SUPPOSE' to be broke hounds that why they get scratched.. The reg dogs are given a lil leeway on any off game.
