tight bred

when you bred a line of dogs very tight in bloodline does it tend to make the pups/ dogs smaller in size?

I breed my dogs fairly tight and I am getting medium sized dogs which is what I am breeding for. I think the smaller dogs may come from generation after generation of in-breeding.
