Sheriff Andy
Hey Sheriff. Sorry so late getting back to you. I got mine at Buck and Bass in Jackson. Called a NOMAD made by Brunton. I think there addy is www.brunton.com It is nice. Used it tonight and it works great. Has three modes Compass Mode, Forward Bearing Mode, and Reverse Bearing Mode. The compass mode is simple works just like a compass only its digital screen. Forward Bearing Mode say if you want to go north, turn your body till it points north and hit a button to lock the direction in. Say if you want to go 269 degress just lock it in. If you get off course, the arrow swings the direction you lock in. Just keep walking the way the arrow points and you'll get there. Reverse works basically the same way. Payed 45.00 for it but it was the last one they had. I think they run about 60.00. Works off of a 3 volt watch type battery. Back light that stays on for 30 seconds. Automatic shut off 5 min. after last button pushed. Not sure how long the battery will last but it did say when the low battery indicator came on you had about 20 hours w/o the back light. NO SIGNALS is what convinced me to get one. Works by the compass degrees. Small but easy to read. Hangs around neck or wrist. Think it weighs about 4 oz so you really dont know its there till you need it. I give it a thumbs up. Don't get me wrong, I like the Garmin. It is pretty much useless though if you cant get a signal. And you have to be moving in order to get a bearing. With the nomad you dont.
