The dog was not treed when they arrived so he is not scratched.

The registered dog is not scratched, the other three are. ALL dogs in a RQE hunt under champion rules but a dog that comes into a tree with off game AFTER the cast arrives does not get minused or scratched.

I don't care if you think it's right or not, a dog that comes into a tree with off game AFTER the cast arrives at the tree does not get penalized even if he climbs on the tree and barks!!!!

(k) In Nite Champion and Grand Nite Champion casts, dog is scratched for running, treeing or molesting off game during the authority of the Judge.

(d) If dog declared treed, after five minutes has elapsed no additional dog can be declared treed at that particular tree but if they come in to tree will get minus on track and nothing on tree if coon is seen.

If you found a coon.... that reg dog is getting minus strike points.

Which leads me to believe if you find a opossum, he should be scratched. I think?

Its a UKC policy not a written rule. They are not going to scratch a dog that comes into a possum with the pressure of the cast being there shinning the tree. Personally I don’t agree with it if we are going to minus a dog its strike when it comes into a coon then we should scratch one that comes into a possum, but that’s not how they have decided to do it.

The actual UKC policy is that a dog is not considered to have treed whatever is in the tree if the dog came in after the judge arrives. Doesn't matter if they stand on the tree and hammer, if they came in AFTER THE JUDGE ARRIVED, UKC says they did not tree whatever is in that tree. That is why they cannot be scratched for offgame if they come in after the judge.

I would bet atleast 50% of all handlers at any UKC hunt would miss this one. It has been covered by both Todd and Allen mutiple times on this message board. Just do a search. It is in the Advisor book, page 89. And still atleast half say scratch when the dog comes in after the judge.

The last 4 casts I spectated on had judges telling the spectators they can shine if all agree. One was an RQE.

He showed up after the shine time was started so no minus or scratch for him.

If a dog shows up after cast is in scoring position he is handled, and strike points are deleted.

I still want to know if the reg dog showed tree. If he never showed tree how are you going to say he was after that possum.

5) - (g) When dog that is shut out comes into tree shut out

6) - (k) In Nite Champion and Grand Nite Champion casts, dog is scratched for running, treeing or molesting off game during the authority of the Judge.

For a dog that comes into the tree late, the strike points are not deleted unless coon is seen.

Strike points are not deleted either way. If a dog comes in after the 5, the strike points are minused if coon is seen, CIRCLED if coon is not seen. That means plus tree gets your strike minused, circle or minus tree gets your strike circled. you never delete stike points at the tree unless the dog was shutout.
