Who owns this English Stud ?

He's not nessessarly the best looking English but thats a plus.
He dont leave out with his tail on fire but goe's at his own pace.
He's independent, but will back a dog if he dont have nothing going.
He's a nice lay up dog.
He has a good loud bawl track mouth and a intence chop on tree but he's not all over the place.
Short to Medium hunter.
Honest strike dog.
Only opens on sent.
Good Locate, and will slam a tree.
Started early and was coon crazy as a pup.
Not Shy or agressive in any way.
Will Not leave a tree.
Will drift out a cold track.
Accurate.
Doe's (not) have to be titled but it's a plus.
Did not have to be taught how to tree.

If you have hunted with this dog, let me know. I'd like to come and hunt with him a few times...Interested for breeding...

Goody

Randy, it sounds like to me you have described Goody (PKC Champion Dual Grand Champion Heart of Dixie's Cannonbawl Red) with the exception he is about as good looking English as you will ever see. Don't fall for the "grass is always greener" syndrome. Goody will make the reproducer's list (maybe the All Time List) if Jeff will let folks know he has got him so they can breed their good females to him.

Goody

Redtick, I know where Goody is, dont get me wrong, he's a nice dog. He's young and he aint going to leave Jeffs house...lol Theres a little difference in Goody and what I discribed tho. Acctually thats a close discription of my female Jenny's trates. As far as the grass being greener, I have my own personnal stud dog that can hold his own with anything in the woods. So anything other than him will be trying for greener grass. He is however perty much opposite on some of the trates of my female. I would like to hunt with some nice dogs see for myself what else is out there and Make a few new friends, Thats why I posted this.

Thanks for the reply Dave.

Try David Minson's Cabin Creek Rowdy, I hunted with him and he sure is a nice dog. You would be line breeding at it's best. It is hard to find a nicer person than David Minson.

Rowdy

dave, a buddy of mine has a female grand pup of Rowdy 6mo's old. Split Tree'd the other nite and had the coon. I been keeping an Eye on her. Thats as close down here as I've seen from Rowdy. I'd like to hunt with him for sure. Or a good male pup right out of him...

Rowdy

I have some nice video of him and a daughter of Little Bam on a CD that I could send you if you will pay for the costs. As far as I am concerned, line breeding is THE way to breed coonhounds. You would also be line breeding by breeding to Goody.

My old hunting partner bred his swamp rooster gyp to rowdy and we havent seen anything extraordinary they are just 12 months old but not a one with run a track and put a tree on the end of it.
I am not trying to run down rowdy because obviously he is a nice reproducer. Just remember anytime pups are born its not guarenteed that you automatically have a early starting coondog.

I've found him

There is a english dog in our area down here in south ms that you have discribed. His name is hard time jammer, he is off of the hard time preacher dog that Darryl Brown had.I am a walker man and have tried english before hoping to get one like jammer but have always ended up disapointed. He is owned by a man named John Shivers now. Steve loper just sold him to mr shivers about 2 months ago. As a matter of fact Jammer was high scoring male at southern englih days 2 years ago. I dont know shivers # but Steve Lopers # is 601-528-5539 give him a call he still hunts with the dog every week, he can hook you up with Mr Shivers.

Im not planning on breeding this next heat cycl, gonna keep hunting her a while. See how this last litter turns out. And get her finnished out. That a give me plenty of time to check out some posssibilitys.

thanks,

Isn't Jenny's dad and Rowdy brothers? Seems to me like that would be almost like breeding her back to her dad.
I'd breed her to Allen Gaston's dog. Come up Randy and i'll take you to Allen's house. He'll put his stud dog in the woods.I've hunted with him and was IMPRESSED.

Line Breeding

Rusty, you should get a book on dog breeding. It may enlighten you and make you more knowledgable on how to produce better dogs. Line breeding is a proven way to get a much higher percentage of good dogs out of a litter.

Rusty, if we can get together down at AO I have a interesting video you may want to view. It would enlighten you on what not to do when breeding hounds and could save you the time of reading a book on hound breeding.

Will be hunting friday night, may see you saturday.

Most rocket scientists read books all of the time. I reckon it may be part of the reason they are smarter than most other folks. I have some interesting video with Rusty in it.

I have read the "Good Book" along with some of the others I have read. You are right about it being in their genes and the best way to put the best genes in the pups is to read a book on genetics and then use the information to your best advantage.
