Coon in New Mexico

Looking for a little insight on where to hunt coon in New Mexico. I know we have the New Mexico Houndsman Association, but i have been unable to get in touch with anyone from there. Coon hunting is definitely not as popular here as it is in E. Tennessee. Thanks!

Grant

.

Hmmmm, it is quite possible raccoon are not indigenous (spelling?) to New Mexico. I was through there several weeks ago and was wondering if there were any there. Have you seen any or perhaps any coon sign?

Did you look up MOH and BSJ in NM and try to get in touch with them?
The club there only holds hunts in the winter or spring (can't remember exactly when right now).
There are definitely coon at least in parts of the state, but there may be laws that are very restrictive as to when or where you can hunt them.

There are definitely 'Coon here hit one down in the bosque not long ago and in the spring when I was fishing on the river I happen to see some of the biggest tracks ive ever seen .

I Have not heard of MOH or BSJ nor do I even have a clue what the acronyms mean... I know New Mexico Houndsman association have hunts in the fall and spring. The season for 'coon here is Sept 1- march IIRC. The biggest thing is I know the NMHA do hunts in Los Lunas area, but I have been unable to locate where or to find contact info for them.

I also plan on hunting lions if the dogs are up to it, I have sourced a few people that hunt lions with dogs but no one for coon.

Maybe Tycon can chime in, I know he was going to a hunt down in Los Lunas when he dropped my pups off.

I am also planning to make it up to Colorado and over to Arizona to do some hunting since the non-resident license dont cost an arm and a leg.
