Kennel Septic System - How much did it cost you?

I'm going to redo my kennels and I've thought about putting in some sort of a septic system.

Tell me about your experieces and costs.

Thanks,

Noah

Personally I would set up a tank away from the dog pen shovel it out every day take it and dump it in the tank. The reason is any type of bedding, hay, cedar shavings, etc.... will get mixed in with dog waste and clog up your tank. Also any leaves or other yard debris will have the same effect.

tank

im building a new pen now and my plan is takeing a 250 gal chemical tank off the farm burying it with a drain field or cutting a lot of slits in it and putting rock around it as far as debris stopping it up i dont see a problem down here it doesent get that cold and i would use some old carpet that i could change out if it gets that cold. just my idea

I'd just make a lime pit. Cheap and easy and has worked for me for years. Just pics a spot, dump your waste out, and spread lime on it every week or so. No odor and it disapears pretty quickly. Use hydrated lime, not lawn lime.

I have concert floor with a gutter on the edge which I spray all the waste off the concert into and the gutter have a large bucket dugg into the ground with holes in it so the water and urine soak into the ground and the top of the bucket has a screen to keep out the straw which i rake off when i'm done.
