Winning at all cost

Winning at all cost is something many, including myself, have done in the past. Good handling or slick handling even called cheating... Was what it was! A lot of the hunts I've been to in the past few years seem to have become over run with the same... The old saying " you can't BS a BSer. " holds true with me so watch out for it and call them out on it. I won a bunch of hunts, qualified a lot of dogs and finish out dogs doing this over the years and it's not remotely worth it! Striking a dog off leash or knowing full well your dog didn't bark for strike. Treeing your dog off another dogs locate. If your dog does get there last wait to see if the others can hold the tree pressure. Or, wait to see if your dog will clear it out. Pitch him in deep at the last few second of the hunt to find him deep whether he's treed or not just to minus the others for going to him. Treeing your dog and moving around in the woods so as to not be able to pin point him on THE tree he supposed to be treed on... Waiting for him to get treed. Looking for ways to minus out the competition hunting
Mean dogs. I've done it all and not proud of it in my younger years. Y'all be better than me ( or the way I have been). Our sport depends on it. New hunters will not come back if they don't have a good time. Just some old coon hunters ramblings.

Money was the reason! And no, on the local clubs. Some were but only a few!!! Just listening to a bunch of folks on here... It needed to be said. Youngsters feel as if a stud dog or a Grand nite means something. It does... It means the dog is worth more money as a whole. I've made grand nites that really weren't two cents. And I've beat dogs that were unbeatable. The handler has a lot to do with the win... Don't forget that. Knowing the rules and certain parts of them better than they do put you that far ahead before u unsnap. All I'm saying in a nit shell is watch what you do at and in hunts. My coonhunting days are about over and I've had fun. Just leave it better than you found it!!!

Great job !!! I haven't hunted in a hunt for yrs now and this was the main reason I stopped . I remember when my first true hound that i bought paid $100.00 for her couldn't get her to stay treed and she was also a bit on the junky side . I got into hunting with both feet the fever bit me and i had it bad . With the help of some good friends and several pair of boots and many long nights , I turned her around . Dixie was her name she was out of Alfords Alibi . I went to the first hunt with her and the fella I'd bought her from a 2hr. drive .He at this time was packin on of the better females at that time around here, well to make a long story short I almost and should of won the hunt , It got down to me and the guides and judges best friends dog and of course wouldn't you know it with a good lead and a few minutes left she treed . The judge informed me that my dog was treeing and had to tree her so i did . Well it was summer no coon was seen but a obvious circle tree minused my dog and got beat . I remember how proud i was of her on the way home almost winning the hunt with her and how dissapionted i was that i didnt . Its a fine line that makes a man question his beliefs and his pride his honesty because they're was at that time yrs ago wherever you went a babbler and how you hate them when you do have a lighting fast female that will get most honest first strikes on most , to a tree robber hanging out just out of your light that never gets first strike but you can hear him take off to the dogs when they are getting treed and get there to find he's the only one left . No I haven't been to a hunt in a long time and
I do have a very nice female at this time . Someday maybe yes maybe gotta read up on the rules slow down on my smokin and hope that things arn't quite as bad as they where 15 yrs ago.I hope that all this independence we now have breed into our hounds today has put a end to this . I know i see it in my female and can say its not man made ...Thankyou truely for your upmost honesty and humilty

thats the reason i say a class C handler can take a class A dog and make it look like crap while a class A handler can take a classC dog and make it look like a class A dog.

when i started going around to the hunts, i didnt even enter. i just tagged along with a friend and co trainer and spectated......about the 3rd or 4th hunt i attended.......i was drawn aside and handed a scorecard and told by the MOH "here go judge this ntch cast" :0.......this was the thick of the comp world and the guys who were entering the hunts are now the ancient guru's of almost every breed lol.....these boys INVENTED the term "handler"

long story short, and after being forged in fire so to speak lol.......i entered a hunt....in those days there were maybe 2-5 hunts a yr within a hundred miles of my house.....on the 3rd dump, after the dog i was handling had taken first and first on both prev drops w coon seen, i took first and first agian and shut out the rest of the cast in strike points to boot.......cloud nine boys and i was feelin it

we shined the tree and with the ghost of jerry clower as my witness, i couldnt see a thing :/. big oak but no eyes.......other 2 hunters (1 had withdrawn) says there he is and yep i seem him....i have seen NADA but thought wth i got this wrapped up and in the bank so why not ......i say yep and start back for the truck.......50yards or so 1 hunter asks what color the coon i seen was :/.....i say reg coon color i guess, why?........he says cause the one we seen was a pretty yellow and white tabby :0 and shines the tree from where we were agian...

there on the first limb, pretty as a picture sat the cutest little kitty cat you ever saw

I swore to never cheat agian and never did lol

I know that there isnt enough people but one way would be non hunting judges. Because they have no intrest in the hunt.

X2, the worst kind is the one's that say they have changed and don't do it anymore, and surround themselves with known cheaters and attempt to corrupt other new hunters. when these kind get control of the hunts, its game over, and they stick together and attack anyone that calls them out on it, until 1 of them finally gets caught, then they scatter, you don't hear a word about how crooked and fair they are.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself! Haha jk I could cheat if I wanted to but I quit hunting in youths when my brother and his freinds got out of ukc and pkc c most were barred. From ukc is the reason why I just like to tree coons now go when I want to leave when I want to might get back into the night hunts mostly pkc though those trophys can't put gas in my gas tank.
