i have a pup that just turned a yea old two weeks ago. last week my family went on vacation, and i left the pup (that has been staying at my house since i got him at 7 weeks old) my parents house where my two older dogs have stayed since i do no have room for all of them where i live. this pup has been to the woods with my old female since he was 4 months old, so even though the environent was new the dogs he was around was not. left him there sunday night and was called on tuesday of last week telling me he barked nonstop during the day. well we came back saturday and he hasn't barked alot since we got him back home, but when he does he doesn't have the volume or heavyness to his mouth he had beofre our vacation. is this something that will eventually return to normal (like how our throats/voices get scratchy ad get hoarse)? or is there something that i can give him to help his thoat or voice heal to get it back? or is it going to be like tis forever?

Take him to a vet....No one here can explain it unless we actually see and hear the pup....

Sounds like the dog barked himself hoarse.

Keep him as quiet as you can. Give him some Robitussin cough medicine and soak his food for a while. It should come back to normal if you get a jump on it now.

LA-200 from a farm supply. 3cc first day 2cc second day 1cc day 3 down his throat. Keep him quite his mouth will come back.

Hey Josh,
Sounds like he has just barked himself out. Give it time and he should return to normal. I granded Blaze and bred him to my nitech Coma female last week. I can't wait for the pups. I have high hopes. She is a nice female and well you know how he is. Good luck with this. I have had several bark out and they usually come back after a while.

I got one that done that ,,he's 2 now and it never came back..I tried everything ,,even had the Vet to remove his tonsils.

thanks for all the advice, he has beenprtty quite this week so i hope it is healing up, Brian how are things up in Sparta? we need to go hunting sometime. Me and Lynn have been going a little here and there when we can find a some what cool night. good luck with the Blaze pups and congrats on granding him out, i hope i can find a dog like that some day that i can take to the hunts and people dread to see me come like they do with you and Blaze.

Thanks Josh. Blaze is one of those dogs that if he would have had a good handler would have been on top of the walker world. He had me as a handler so he got shafted. LOL Well good luck with the pup. I have a few spots up in Sparta so come up one night and we'll go. Working on some more places. See ya

I had one at just about the same age.Had a nice big deep voice.One night some kids partying up the road kept her barking most of the night.Her voice never came back.I have heard of others with dogs about this same age lost them in the woods and found they had been treed for awhile in the same condition and theirs also never came back.Beginning to believe it is a vulnerable age for messing them up if left barking to long or hard.

This is common for young dogs tied out for the first time or exposed to things they are not used to. Give then 3/4 cc of cortizone for three days in a row. This also happens when dogs are left on a tree too long. Cortizone is a muscle relaxer.
