Coon in the south vs coon in the North
I don't understand , I've herd on here several times "Bring them north dogs down here they don't have a chance",Now I would admit we seem to have alot more coon up here and we do get some of what I call pop ups, Heck tonight we turned loose dogs real excited on the lead turned loose didn't go 20 yards and treed with the coon, but back to my point, we've got lots of deer, skunks, grinners, house cats, just about everything you can Image, I know mountains and swamps are hard going but we talking Dogs,my dogs are fit, just because my out of shape body would be huffin and puffin over ruff terrian doesn't have any effect on my dogs shape,it seems to me if you were in slim pickins for coon, and you strike how hard would it be to run the only coon in county,it seems one of a dogs biggest down falls would be there attention span bouncing from this to that, and trying to keep it straight on what is being chased in the dark, walking into the dogs to night we come across three bedded deer, a grinner , and somones cat,and that was in a hundred yard walk just about on the same line the dogs took.Like I said we do have good numbers for coon in most areas, and yes it does make it nice when you can tree several different coon around 1 small corn field but how does that affect a dogs ability, It don't make a dog lazy it makes me lazy,Sorry guys and gals a dog is a dog no matter where its dropped, but are love handles mite bigger but doesn't make are dogs dumber, and just means they get to tree alot more.JMO
