I'm getting ready to get some of my equipment, and have a couple questions.

Should I get a collar light? If so what type? I've seen some with the LED built into the collar so the collar itself glows, some with lights built into them, and others that look like they clip onto the collar.

Should I get the dog booties for his feet? I've seen them being sold, I just don't know if it is something that needs to be putchased.

Are there more than one GPS tracking unit out there to compare to each other? I'm comfortable with the technology, and their prices seem almost comparable to the radio frequency tracking collars.

i wouldn't get the dog boots thats a waste of money. the set up i use a garmin with a dc 30 and a tracker flashing light att. to the dc 30 it works good for me. if you buy a regular tracker i would go with a marshall lighted collar

I see your in Central Texas and if you have alot of Sand Briers or low Ground Catus .. Well a very good Qty. Dog Boots may have Warent .. We have Run alot in Wyo. were their is alot of ground Catus and Used Cabelas Dog Boots .. They Still needed to be Duct Taped around the Top..

I have never hunted in cactus country but I have never even heard of any coonhunter putting boots on their coondog.

Where I am the ground is pretty rocky, and there are sand spurs. If there are any hunters from Central Texas hill country I would appreciate your input greatly.

I havn't talked to any racooon hunters in the area I am now living in, and I am just now exploring the sport.

I agree never heard of putting boots on a coondog, but I can see where they might need too wear them in some areas.. I wouldn't waist the money on lighted collar devices if you have the money just buy a Garmin with a DC-30. That will tell you everything you need to know about the position of the dog.. I do run a reflective antenna sleeve on the antenna just for very close range veiw...
Your Garmin will be your life saver for you and your hound !!! IT"S A MUST HAVE !!!!!!!

lighte collars are for safety of the hound and are useful in keeping coyotes at bay i can't see where there a waste of money at all, as far as buying a gps system i would wait awhile as marshall and others are coming out with them soon

The first thing you need to do if you needs boots for a dog that is hunted in the west is get a different dog. One with better padded and tougher feet.

ok NO BOOTS, bright eyes lighted collars,and wildlife tracking system and u are ready too go and wont break the bank as well
