it was a grass carp could have broken world record but the ohio fish and wildlife doesnt keep track of that species

He must have snagged it, I think grass carp only eat plankton.

Regular carp and "buffalo" carp get to be quite big also. I have a buddy that guides for crappie on a local lake. In the heat of the summer, he guides for "buffalo" and regularly catches 40-50 pound buffalo on jigging spoons. I sometime fish for regular carp. They put of the best of fights and get real big locally.

Gold fish are carp and can get big.
