Rule

I hunted in U.k.C. hunt. I was scratched out of my cast. My dog
was out about 35 min. and ran out of the dark and jumped up on my chest. I turned his head to see if it was my dog and pushed
him down. One of the cast members said I should be scratched for handling my dog, the judge agreed and I was. I signed the score card and went home. This was the first hunt I had hunted in. I didn't see a rule like this in the rules and was ahead at the time of the scratch. My friends said you can not handle your dog but they believe it means put on a leash. What is your thoughts.

handled wrong

sounds to me like someone was worried about you and your dog. handling your dog has nothing to do with what happened, you should of been minused for dog not hunting.

It does sound like they got you pretty good. You shouldn't have been scratched, maybe a warning for interfering with your dog, but he really wasn't doing anything. Your dog should only be minused if he was struck in at the time, which I don't know. Don't stop going, learn the rules, you had to question it and vote, if it is a scratching offence they have to go back to the clubhouse, if they don't want to, the whole card gets tossed.

I was in a hunt not long ago, Nt Ch cast, and one of the guys dogs came back after he was struck in. Well I considered the dog to be loafing but the judge made the call of time-out and gather your dog. (endangerment because of road) When the judge called time in.................he immediately treed his dog, then I treed mine. That was a stupid mistake made by me. The next time, I will get him. Oh by the way,,,,,,,,,,,,,I won the cast but.....had I gotten the first tree, and she was treeing her tail off during the time out,,,,,,,,,,,,I would have won the hunt that night! He's a slick judge,,,,,,,,,,,,,but our paths will cross again real soon. Good luck with your next hunt!..........TCB
