English Days 09........Some over due thanks
I just want to extend my gratitude to everyone that helped making this years English Days a huge success!!!
I know there is to many people I need to say thank you to and that no matter how hard I try I'm going to forget a few. But I'm going to try cause with out the efforts of these people we couldn't have done it. Sometimes the smallest things helps move mountains.
The Guides...Without good guides you can't put on a club event let alone put over 700 dogs in the woods in three nights. The satalite clubs stepped up to the plate as well as the local hunters. THANKS GUYS
Vern Newland AKA Pappy... When Janet and I first talked about this I told her if I can get Pappy to help me with lining up guides we won't have any trouble hunting as many dogs that want to show up. Friday night we saw an AMAZING 323 entries. After all the cast was drawn and every guide placed Vern sat back in his chair and smiled saying " Son go round us up some more dogs I still got guides on the list" LOL Thank you Vern for all your hard work and planning!!!
Matt Wireman... Matt was my Judge all three nights. He took two rounds out Thursday and took care of the Contender cast Friday and Saturday. Thanks Matt and good job!!!
The English Assoc provided great master of hounds and show judges. They also spent more then there fair shair of time behind the tables taking entries, memberships and answering questions or offering a helping hand!!
Ross Thompson... I want to extend a special thank you to Ross. Sunday morning on his way home Ross stopped and jumped into the clean up crew with both feet. Your help was greatly appreciated!!
Curt Willis and Amanda Alexander... With there new addition to the kennel Curt asked me to handle Stab for him and Amanda. Having hunted Stab for Randy Sellby and Jay Freeman for a month when they owned him I knew that I stood a good chance at getting a piece of something. Turns out Stab lead me to one of my biggest wins and definatly my most memorable!!
Darrel and Rhonda... From the time I pulled in they offered us a chair to sit in,ice cream to eat, support and compliments. Sunday morning as the sun was coming up and I walked in from a short nap in the truck there they were smiling from ear to ear as they give me the good news. Thanks for all the support!!
The whole Turner family... They worked there fingures to the bone all weekend. I think Todd and I were seeing who could get through the weekend on less sleep.lol
The campers... When Ross and I went on Trash detail Sunday we didn't have to clean up the first camp site!! Everyone picked up after themselves and put trash where it was suppossed to be. You have no idea how much little things like that helps!!!
The hunters... Talk about some numbers!!!! WOW Thank you for everyone showing up and making this years English Days the biggest in history and possibly the biggest Breed Event of the year!!!
And most importantly Janet... I would hate to try and count the hours she put into this event months before it ever got started. She poured her heart and soul in this event and I know without her and all the work she did we couldn't have pulled it off. From putting together maps to cooking and preparing enough food for the 300+ people at the members dinner she worked her ass off. I'm proud of her and the dedication she puts into the English Breed and the Events she helps out with.
Like I said, I know I'm forgetting some people and to them I'm sorry.
I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and had a safe trip home!!
