mine is close to that

I worm the female when puppies are 2 weeks, then worm puppies at 2 week intervals starting at 4 weeks until 12 weeks, I give 8-way puppy shots at 6, 9 and 12 weeks. Get along great this way, sometimes I have to send along a shot or two with the new owners and hope they give them.

I always make sure to get mine from the vet. The feed stores around here carry them but I dont trust that they are the best quality and some of the stores just let them sit out.

For the wormer Nemex 2 is the way to go.

I would not give anything but the 5 way vaccine the first time because some of the vaccines are too much for pups at 5 or 6 weeks old. The second and third rounds can be 7 or 8 way shots and not cause any problems. They may need a 4th round also depending on how long you leave them on the female.
I hunt with a Vet often and he also told me to worm my pups starting at about 17 days old and once a week with Nemex II after that.

I know that if you talk to 3 different Vets you might get 3 different lines of thought, but this has worked well for me on several litters and I have not lost a pup doing it.

I agree with coondogless

The protocol I follow differently is that I don't give 7 or 8 way until after the pups are 122 days old. Before that it's only 5 way. And yes, starting worming before pups are weaned is critical.

You really need to look at the manufacturer's recommendations too. I have seen a bit of differences between one manufacturer to another.

It is not recommended to give vaccines with Lepto in them to pups younger than 7 weeks old.

Can you do it and get away with it probably, but consider this many medicines do have toxic effects. What makes the difference between a beneficial effect and a toxic effect is the dose.

Let me ask you this do you give your new born Nyquil for a cold?

I give a 5 way at 6 and 9 weeks,7 way at 12 and 16 weeks.You shouldn't give a 7 way to a pup until it's 12 weeks old.

We've only raised one litter so we were in the same boat, didn't know which plan was the best...Here's what we did....

We wormed pups & mom at 3 weeks, again at 5 weeks and then again at 7 weeks with Nemex II. We didn't have any signs of worms at all, and the pups were always plump and healthy. Also recommended the new owners worm the pups again after they got 'em home and settled....

Gave 7-way shots at 6, 9, and 12 weeks.....

Never had any problems with the pups at a young age and as far as I know, they are all still healthy adults....

I always worm my pups with Nemex2 at 2,3,4,6 and 8 weeks. Your wasting your time giving them a shot if they are still nursing their Mom. I give them their first 7 way shot when I take them off their Mom and then again in 3 weeks if I still have them.
