Most of my dogs are infected with a new strain of parvo. Even dogs with all of their shots are dying. 3 has died so far vet wants to keep them for a week with Ivs and I cant afford that for 20 beagles my coondogs arent showing any signs yet. Ive been giving the ones showing signs penecillon to illiminate secondary infection and pedilyte. Any help would be apprecitated.

I believe the main thing is keeping liquids in them forcing it if need be. I have had luck doing this in the past when I was younger. Maybe someone else can help somemore.

You need to administer IV fluids Subcutaneously. Your vet may set you up with a drip. Split the amount given into two doses.

Many years ago my Vet supplied me with IV fluids to give subcutaneously using a syringe. You inject the fluid in several places over the ribcage making the dog look "lumpy" and as soon as the lumps are absorbed, start checking for dehydration (skin pinch test) & repeat this as often as necessary. Also get anti nausea/antobiotic meds from your Vet to give orally. A friend of mine additionally used Tamiflu & said it worked. My Vet told me that dehydration is what kills most pups. As soon as they stop feeling nauseous, feed them chicken broth and rice to start with.

I've also heard bleach will cure it or kill it. I've never had sucess brining them out of it

I handle dogs for a Vet and yesterday he told me on the phone there's a new strain of Parvo in the Rio Grande area of Texas and in the Pacific Northwest. He said it's tough to treat & that a customer had brought in a litter of bird dogs with it & he had them on IV drips. He said the vaccine companies had been to the area getting samples from infected dogs so that they can incorporate vaccine for the new strains into their present vaccines. He said it's much more serious than the previous Parvo.

Yes there is a new strain that the shot want cure. 4 dogs have died so far 2 one year olds and 2 two year olds. Ill make sure to get those supplies tomoro. Thanks

A lot of times parvo kills a dog because it isn't treated QUICKLY and EFFICIENTLY. The dog becomes dehydrated so quickly that it dies.....Even a healthy adult dog can die from the more common strain of Parvo.

Back when we were first hit with Parvo and they haven't come out with a vaccine yet I had very good luck treating dogs with it this way.

lactated ringers under the skin. When the bumps went down put more into the dog. Also when I gave them the ringers I would also poke a piece of canned dog food down their throats. The same way you would if you was giving a dog a worm pill.

The main thing is to keep their fluids up and also get something in them for food. You have to keep working with them and make sure to keep the fluids high.

A couple cc's of bleach injected in them will cure them or kill them, & does it fast. It sounds terrible, but I have seen a good # of small pups that were on the verge of death & vets said they could do nuthing, come out of it. Seen it used on whole litters with the disease with about 50% making it.

Im having real good results on 2 young foxdogs they have both started eating canned dog food. Ive forced pedilyte every 4 hours for the past 2 1/2 days and 2.5 cc of penecillon each day. I think they are going to make it but im going to try this new treatment on them and my beagles that arent doing good.

You may want to Put that Neomycin in All the Drinking Waters this will take care of what your doing with the Penicillin "If their Drinking" ..

Also remove dogs from an Area and with a Garden Sprayer with 1/4 Dilution of Clorox, Spray an Area "Let it Dry" then replace the dogs. May have to do this each day.

This Stuff is like the Human Flu .. Its the Secondary Effects of the Vioded System that Builds the "Killing Bacteria" is what takes them out..
