I have always ran them year round, but generally if its over 100 at dark, I dont go much...I always have a water jug and bowls in the back, and give the hounds a little water betweent turnouts...

You can tell just by looking at them , but when its hot keep fluid in front of them, 1 part Gatorade 2 parts cool water will keep them going and actually will give them a boost at times.Another thing to look at is if its to hot for coon to be moving , it will make for some loong nights.

I wouldn't give dogs gatorade. Gatorade was designed to replace salts that we lose when we sweat. Dogs don't sweat like people. They cool their selves with different mechanisms.

When the temperatures are warm a well conditioned dog will handle the warmth better than a unconditioned dog. I carry water, and try to hunt wet areas. IN addition, I wet the dog with water on the underside of its trunck and its ears. Basically, anywhere that blood vessels are near the skin.

Eighty at night is too hot, unless you are hunting the hounds in Water. The only problem here in the South with that is that now thanks to some stupid endangered species act, all the big water is full of hungry Alligators.

Up here in ohio I dont think it could really get to the point of being to warm. I think up here I would probably drop over dead before the dog. As long as you are sensible and pay attention to the dog , I would run them suckers every night. I actually like hunting in the summer. My favorite time to hunt!

It can get real hot here in Louisiana! I just make one or two drops, depending on how hot of a night it is. Made three trees last night & they where burned out!
