Last night for a long while

I have coon hunted as much as I possibly could the last 2 weeks. Tonight will be my last time for 3 months. We have Boy Scouts Monday night and Cub Scouts with a leaders meeting Tuesday night. Wednesday is the first day of a 3 month long quiet time.

What really stink is my son has a 12 month old pup that really doesn't need to be laid up for 3 months.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am SICK and TIRED of this bull crap in Michigan. I feel as if I am about 3 shakes of a dog's tail away from starting to raise some holy high water with the DNR, NRC, and our state represntatives, and potential next Governor.

I have 300 hours of vacation time at work, and I am seriously thinking about making trips to Lansing and making my self a pest right on their door step!

We dont have a down time in ohio, but they do close down the public land for a 3 months. I think it is stupid for them to do this, they leave a few public spots open to the public ( of course nothing close to me). If your going to close it down, close it all down. Just a stupid thing if you ask me!

Many years ago a Private Act was passed for our county and a few surrounding counties to allow for training season. A lobbiest was hired to work with State Rep. in our area to get this passed through the state leg. for us, bypassing the TWRA and the only way it can be repelled is the same way. Just an idea.

summer fun

I assume you're talking about a no hunting during the summer issue.
SC does permit year round running of hounds on PRIVATE LAND.
I think they close Game Management property after March 1st
in most game zones.
Turkey hunters benefit from this.
Catch all the fish you can stand til next fall. LOL

Actually, it will end earlier this year. If you look at the Wildlife Conservation Act, Chapter XIV sections 14.3 and 14.5.

Dog training is now allowed from July 8 to April 15th. per section 14.3.

Dog training restrictions section 14.5 list season closed from April 16th to July 14th. So, right now 14.3 and 14.5 counterdict each other.

See the link:

http://www.michigan.gov/documents/C...IV_128653_7.pdf

So it looks like I might get one more night on the 15th.

We get a early week this yr but don't we have to give up a week for bear season. quite week for bear hunters with out hounds(we people training hounds on coon)I have no Idea what running coon has to do with any other wildlife, i think each animal should be listed by itself and rules should be specific to each animal,I know easier to regulate if you lump them together, but come on animals are differnt,( i thought the early week was training bear dogs?)

Training

One thing of interest everyone should notice section 14.2. A license is no longer required for dog training.

However, if you are doing nuisuance coon control, you will need a license.

I heard on Friday night at Lapeer, 2 boys got ticketed for not having a license. Maybe just a rumor??... I thought it sounded funny, cause I was pretty sure you did not need a license except during kill season.

training season

i guess this is why i live in ohio, we have no closed season, which means we can hunt all year around. i hate to be you guys that live in states that have closed seasons during the spring and summer. i hunt just about every nite and that would put a damper on me.
