first off hows it work exaclty, i know the dogs are on benches and stand pretty but what makes them win

Do the dogs have to stay dead still the entire time?

Are you allowed to keep your hands on them so they dont move?

How long do they usually last?



I just want to know what I need to work on before I waste my time driving to one thats far away and be dissappointed.

dogs are judged on their conformation(refer to the breed standards on UKC main site). You start off by gaiting the dog, then set them up on the bench the best you can. You try and keep them still as possible, but b/c they move you aren't going to lose. You can keep your hands on the dog.

yeah, gaiting can be a walk or trot ... judge can have a better look at a trot.
How long? hmm ... a few mins I guess, don't know for sure but it isn't very long

go and watch one close to home. that way if you don't like it, you haven't wasted alot of time.

they really are alot of fun and it is something to do with pup while working on the hunt side. Plus i trhink its good for young dogs to go to the shows and be around strange dogs and people, helps get them used to traveling and all the noise and excitement that can be at a hunt/show.
